Ubud packs an enormous amount of Bali's culture and scenery into a small area. With a private driver for the day, you can comfortably cover the highlights without rushing.
Morning: Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Start early at Tegalalang, before the tour buses arrive. The layered green paddies are Bali's most photographed farmland, farmed using the centuries-old subak irrigation system.
Midday: Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
A short drive into central Ubud brings you to the Monkey Forest, home to several hundred resident macaques and three temples dating to the 14th century.
Tip: keep bags zipped and food out of sight — the monkeys will grab anything loose.
